total control For this quarter's final project we were assigned to write a science fiction short story and then turn it into a video. This is a very long and detailed project that required a lot of time and effort to develop both parts. I first started with the written story, for me this was the most complicated part of the whole project. First of all I did a brainstorm, this took me a very long time because I really couldn't find any ideas for my story, this stressed me a lot and made it much harder to find any ideas. I finally found the theme of my story and started writing all of my ideas, then I included the final details like the science fiction elements. After doing all this I started writing the story. It took me very long and a lot of times I got extremely frustrated. When I finished my story I asked two friends to edit it and tell me what I needed to change, so after peer editing I made the corrections and finally putted a title, "Total Control".
Process of doing the digital story was quite different from the process of doing the actual story. First of all, I did a storyboard where I planned what would happen in every scene, like which image would appear and what I would narrate. Then, after knowing a little bit how I wanted my movie to look like, I chose the program where I would make the video, wevideo. The longest step of making this video was to draw every singles scene with the background and the characters, after finishing this I started to include every image in the program. Then I started to narrate every single thing in the movie, the most complicated part was the dialogue because I would always start to laugh when I did a voice for a specific character. Finally I just added the final details like background music and sound effects. As mentioned before, both parts of the project where very different, for example, the story required a deeper analysis and understanding of science fiction and the video was more of an artistic effort. In my case, it was much harder for me to write the story and I enjoyed much more to do the video because I love to draw. Also, one of the main differences I found was the narration, when I wrote the story I had an image of how the dialogue was but when I tried to narrate it out loud it made no sense. Even though both projects where very different, I still found some similarities in the process; the brainstorming. In the written story I wrote a brief explanation of what was going to happen in the introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution, this is very similar to the storyboard I did for the video because I also drew and wrote everything that was going to happen in every scene. In the whole process of doing this project, I found somethings I enjoyed and others I found very frustrating. In the written story the hardest thing for me was to find a theme, after I finally found it became easier to develop the story. Another difficulty I found in both projects was the dialogue, in the actual story it was really hard to make up a conversation that wouldn't distract the reader, then when I was narrating the video every time I would do the voice of a different character I would start to laugh so this took me a very long time. Even though, I suffered a lot while writing the story I was satisfied with my final draft because after all the time and effort I invested it was finally done. Contrary to this, the process of doing the video calmed me a lot and almost the whole time I was relaxed and happy. To conclude, after all the work I putted on this project I convinced it is going to be a good one and hopefully I will complete all the expectations. |

DANCE IS PERFECTION
One of my favorite things to do is to dance. I simply cant stay without dancing or moving, all day I am jumping around and dancing to every sound I hear because that is what I love to do. My sonnet talks about what dancing means to me, and why I love it so much. I have been dancing for five years now, and I really wish that I would have started younger. My dream is to dance the rest of my life because there is nothing better in life than dancing jazz, ballet, hip hop, tap, and many other techniques. I hope you enjoy my poem and remember, when you are sad, dance, and when you are happy, dance again.
To dance is to speak, and I never stop.
Dancing is dreaming with both of your feet.
Express what you feel and reach to the top.
Follow the rhythm and dance to the beat.
Each precise technique, sustaining its grace.
And beauty exists in a Grand-jeté.
A colorful variety of ways.
And the old precision in a Fouetté.
Listen to the music, just let it flow.
Dance is a discipline that I enjoy.
Eyes will be cautious in the final show,
But don't dance for others, just find the joy.
Dance for yourself, and feel the connection.
It seems absurd, but dance is perfection.
Dancing is dreaming with both of your feet.
Express what you feel and reach to the top.
Follow the rhythm and dance to the beat.
Each precise technique, sustaining its grace.
And beauty exists in a Grand-jeté.
A colorful variety of ways.

But don't dance for others, just find the joy.
Dance for yourself, and feel the connection.
